Jezzabel had a great idea on generating hip and fun uses for the crochet doily before we condemn it to a life of forgotten tweeness - so here's the 1st one - embellishing clothes:

tiny happy used some vintage doilies to make a lovely hand bag.. so its not a complete lost cause..
