Non Crafts Related / Hello, Strangers!
« on: 30 Dec 2010 17:17 »
Hello all! My PC died a few months ago and I haven't been able to afford a new one, but my dad just bought me a new one today, so here I am! I've got quite a lot of real life crap going on (some of you on my facebook friends list know some of the story behind that), but hopefulyy, it means I can get on with doing some real crafting and now I have my PC again, hopefully can do some selling too!

Glad to be back and still see some familiar faces around!

Nadia

I am moving house tomorrow so won't be around for a while! Don't know how long for though yet. Meant to be switching internet companies with this move so I've no idea when I'll be back! So I guess I will see you all on the other side!

Hope to get a good 10 or so listed in the next few days, if I can find my non-christmassy stuff before everythign goes up in the air over the next couple of months!

Anyone got any suggestions of how I can make it better or anything? Is my description - well - descriptive enough?!

TIA!

Crochet Crafts Forum / Apparently, I can crochet!
« on: 21 Apr 2010 21:42 »
I followed the pattern from http://bittersweetblog.wordpress.com/2007/08/14/bake-me-a-cake/ from Ravelry. I attempted crochet a couple of times before, but gave up - just couldn't get into it - except for making a HUGE granny square blanket for DS, but I kept going around the outside, I got to about 2 ft across and got bored, haha!

I've been teaching myself again and even mananged a magic ring after watching a youtube tutorial over and over again - eventually coming up with this:

I'm really pleased with it! Nice fast way to use up some scraps of yarn too :)

I saw this offer in a national paper today and had to check it out. It looks too good to be true, but I LOVE stuff like this! Only think is, I've spent £70+ in 2 days on craft stuff, so another £20 seems a bit much [for me], but I am SOOOO tempted!

I just hit 300 fans on Facebook :D Thanks to a couple of the Link Love ladies on there who posted me around a bit, I'm now up to 302 and probably going further tonight! :D I'm too stupidly excited about this! I posted half an hour agio that I only had 5 to go and went off to do some cleaning. Came back and was past it!

I've been lusting after a decent die-cutting machine for ages. I've had an X-Cut impress for a while, but the plates are so tiny and it doesn't feel very strong when I'm tring to cut things. It's also very limited on the sizes of the individual dies as well as the general availability.

After a bit of research, I decided I wanted to buy a Cuttlebug but the craft shop in my local town were selling them at £70 and it was way beyond my budget! I checked my online banking today and have no bills coming out, so I bit the bullet and bought it! I was in the shop with my kids. DS was asleep, but DD was intrigued by everything. The lady in the shop let her choose a disney die and embossing folder and threw them in for half price and the lady also found one of the dies from the kids range and let DD choose one of those too and threw it in for free! And because DD was so good, she let her have a few chocolate coins AND a pack of small xmas card toppers too!

I know I could have gotten a Cuttlebug online for about £20 cheaper, but I wouldn't have made DD happy with it!

And, of course, I've been playing with it since I got home and I can honestly say, I don't know how I've lived without it! I love it sooo much and it's so easy to use! I'd highly recommend[sp?] it to anyone who's considering it!

Somebody linked to this on Facebook - it's a fantastic idea and I'm going to try it out on DS later today! I use nappi nippas too and they should clip perfectly onto the t-shirt too!

Knitting Crafts Forum / Making up a cardigan/jacket

What is the best order to put the pieces together? I have a back piece, two front pieces [no button band yet] and two raglan sleeves. The neck/collar piece is made separately and is last.

I have put one front piece on already, but I think that was a bad idea because it's made it heavier for when I do the button band - but that's no big deal really. But I think the sleeves are going to confuse me because of knitting them around the ragland shaping. I'm thinking it might be easier to sew the back and front to the sleeve while it's flat - ie before I sew the sleeve seam up.

If I don't make any sense, please let k#me know, but if anyone can help, it'd be much appreciated!

Crafts Business Forum / Changing image resolution?
« on: 4 Nov 2009 18:39 »
I didn't know whether to put this in websites or business, but it's regarding an image for business cars so I put it here.

I've found a local place in town that can make me some business cards fairly cheap. I've just checked their website and it says for print quality, the image needs to be around 300dpi - I've checked my logos and they are 96dpi. How do I go about making them denser? Is it just a case of resizing them?

TIA!
