oh Ali  :( i know exactly how you feel - i have been cra p lately too - i just had to take a massive break and change direction and now i'm feeling so much more positive and my mojo is slowly returning - i've decided i can't work to order i have to make for pleasure and if people don't understand that then it's their own tough sh!te  ;) it's lovely to see you back xxx

VV - This is me too - to a T. I am back making again and have designed some bracelets (which some of you may have seen on FB), but almost feel annoyed when someone asks me to make another one - lol. Certainly not businesswoman of the year!

This sounds so familiar. I get so bored churning out things to order, and of course there's always the worry  you are going to b*ll*cks it up and you'll have wasted the time and fabrics... which really stresses me out.  I've done something similar and decided to work on things that enthuse me only, I'm definitely taking a long break from commissions!  I'm going to focus on creating patterns and selling fabrics... hopefully that will work better for me.  :) :)  I was feeling so rotten I had to make a change...

Mini quilt has not happened (well, it almost happened...it's almost finished - it was almost finished 6 weeks ago!). It was a casualty of the anxiety.... I have put it away in a cupboard for now, maybe I will be brave enough to get it out next year....  :(  Can't got to FoQ unfortunately because I literally have no money and tbh can't face it.... God that sounds miserable doesn't it. Sorry.

Have you noticed I wasn't here?!!  Sorry I have been so crap and absent, I have been having a tough time for various reasons... one being a huge crisis of confidence which has resulted in my feeling that I can't look at other people's beautiful creativity, so I have been avoiding blogs, forums, and my own blogging has been a bit lack lustre...  I think when you start having panic attacks whilst sewing, it's time to take a break...   :(    But I'm feeling a little bit better now, and made some very firm decisions about my crafting limits for a while... Time to have fun :-)

So, how IS everyone??

I have 3 people set up for having blog buttons. I will email C later on with all my existing advertiser contacts and of course I will have a space myself!  We need a blog button to give to people, and dates of when buttons NEED - I guess it will be 1st July?  Maybe Chick, C and I can set up a little team to try and get this sorted.  Are we going to sell the same size ads as before or just 1/4 page?

Hi Rachel - great to see you again. I know what you mean, it's so easy to get carried away by other things and general busy-ness!

I think the thing with Free is you can access it straight from a blog button, whereas at the moment people have to make the commitment of joining the forum, then paying etc. I think if you did the button blog spot idea, then had it so people could directly access it the readership would instantly get a lot bigger. Then perhaps have some sew-a-longs where the first part is featured in the magazine, with the rest on the forum.

Not sure if you can easily track numbers downloaded from what i'm suggesting though x

I'm wondering if Google Analytics would keep track on numbers for us?

I know what you mean vV, it doesn't seem very expensive, but like Emily says, it's getting people to take that step (especially when we have free competition in other online mags) and do all the fiddly stuff of being forum members etc.

I will get my crochet pattern written up over the weekend. I am so sorry that I can't do the advertising for issue 4, but I can certainly put the word out to ask other crafters if they want to have a small ad in the magazine in exchange for a button on their blog pages. What size will the magazine ads be? I will put out a call via my Facebook page, and pass the info on to Calamity Claire if I get any takers.

I am not sure about the future of the forum, but I do think that Crafteroo magazine could have a future. Personally I would suggest we make the magazine free and asked the advertisers for more. There are so many online craft mags out there just now, and this seems to be the general model... people aren't used to paying for online stuff, I don't think.

I think your stuff is lovely - I can't get my head round why it isn't selling. You sound so fed up, and I'm not surprised. Do you need to make money out of it?

I meant to say, if anyone else is going to the show I'm looking at taking a day off work and going either Thursday 16th or Friday 17th August if anyone fancies arranging a meet up over lunch?

Definitely on to meet up. Would probably prefer the Thurs.. but I can do either day tbh.

Have written a bit about it myself today. A thoroughly depressing experience...
