Introduce Yourself / Just a quick hullo
« on: 28 Feb 2009 13:15 »
I'm Courtney, or as others know me, Corky. I'm American & am originally from northern Michigan. I went into shell shock when I first moved to England because of how, well, close together everything is. I'm used to it now & appreciate it a bit more, but I do sometimes dream of the countryside and open fields as far as the eye can see.

I'm 31, I have a 2 1/2 year old daughter & have been married for over 8 years now. We also have an awesome dog, Ludo, who is about 4 1/2 years old. (As far as we can tell he was born around Halloween 2004.) We're in the middle of a move back to the U.S. after I've been here for 10 years now. We're waiting on immigration paperwork & it's taking the government a lot longer to get back to us than we had anticipated. We've been waiting since August of last year & were originally planning on moving in December. I should have listened to all the ex-pats & friends who have told me it will take a year! Yes, our dog is coming with us too. :)

I sew, crochet, cook, bake, knit, stamp, paint...just about all of it minus woodworking. I'll be delving into that later this year when we've moved. My Stepdad has an awesome woodworking shop in his garage that we intend on working in & hopefully selling items at craft fairs & on Etsy/etc.

I love a good book & have been learning to take a bit of time for myself lately. Joanne Harris is one of my favourite authors. I just started reading Lollipop Shoes. I'm also a big lover of food. I think I own more recipe books than I do novels...so that's me off the top of my head. Any questions about Americans, don't be afraid to ask. I get asked a lot of questions about America. lol

Completed Fabric Projects / Some Summer time sewing
« on: 21 Feb 2009 12:55 »
Yes, I may seem to be jumping the gun, but it's easier to sew for Summer now than it is when it's actually nice out (and the great want to be outside is more than that of the want to sew!)...

I don't know if I'm allowed to post pictures here or not, but I've been working on these three dresses for my daughter & blogged about it here:

Hey, I'm cleaning house & have a bunch of scraps that I don't want wasted. Does anyone want these? All I ask is that you pay shipping.

Let me know. They're good quality quilting cottons & some are suitable for smallish projects like dolls clothing or potholders or something along those lines. I just want it outta my house this weekend. <3
