Craft Fairs and Events Forum / Derby Swop n Shop
« on: 12 May 2012 10:25 »
A friend of mine Alison has signed up for a stall at a Swop n Shop even in Derby (at the Silk Mill june 9th) and has asked me to help her out and make a bunch of my geeky badges to sell on her Vintage and Upcycled clothing and supplies stall. It should be good fun, I have only ever done a few stalls as I'm a huge coward when it comes to my crafts being anything more than a few dolls and badges sold in my etsy shop. Anyway if anyone feels the need to visit Derby that saturday I shall be there... possibly with the Boy in tow.

I made this a few days ago with some suede leather I was sent in a craft swap ages ago, a vintage key and some vintage pearl buttons. The Boy modelled it for me though it was hard to keep him still. Very simple design and I'm not sure how hard wearing it will be as it's soft but it looks good and the Boy was happy to bounce around wearing it for a little while. He said it was ace. I was asked by a friend if I could make her fella a steampunk cuff which I think I should be able to with the rest of the suede.

Non Crafts Related / What are you reading?

I'm reading Little House in the Big Woods with the Boy. I dug the books out of the attic at my parents house and brought Little House in the Big Woods and Little House On the Prairie Home with a assortment of other books I found while we were stateside. I was obsessed with the Little House books when I was a kid and read and reread them over and over again when not watching the tv show. My other even found me some bonnets at a yardsale when I was small so I could pretend I was Laura Ingalls living in the Old West. I couldn't find my copy of Farmer Boy though which was the main book I wanted to find for the Boy to read as its about Almanzo's childhood, but he does seem to be intrested in Little House, especially as it's a TRUE story of what life was like before tv, ipods, Nintendo and everything else he has.

I'm also reading a Fairy Tale anthology and a humourous fantasy novel by A. Lee Martinez called In the Company of Ogres. I still need to read A Game of Thrones as I started it but my brain switched off and got occupied with other things.

So what is everyone else reading?

This is me blogging twice in two days.. I'm a little bit shocked at myself it's been so long since I felt like blogging and writing (Aside for the last few bits I have done for the Crafteroo Mag of course). It's a doll and her story that I finished sewing while in the states and sent her off to live with a friend of mine in California.

Hello everyone I'm back from visiting my parents in Idaho. Well I have been back since Saturday but I finally got some blogging done and managed to do some useful things on the internets and not sit mindlessly pinning and practising my procrastination skills. Ahem anyway... Adventures in Thrifting in the Pacific Northwest

I still loath River Song... and really hope she doesn't show in the next season. Adore Matt Smoth and I still love Amy though I'd be quite happy to see Rory die and not come back.  ;)

tonight is the first night of my craft club. I am a nervous wreck. I wish you all could be there with me. I'm hoping it will go well and everything will be fine but I'm a worrier.. it's probably my middle name. *runs around the house in a panic* ... once the Boy is home from school I shall make brownies right away.

I'm looking for some fabric that I bought to make dolls with and now have run out. It may be a 'Moda Marbles'? it was black with a mottled brown inclusion... I have some Quilter's Shadow in black which is similar but its a mottled grey/blue tinge and quite cold looking... It's driving me crazy as they don't have whatever it was at the fabric shop I visited today... I will go try to take a close up of the scrap I have left.

I've tried to look it up on the interwebs but no luck as the images are such poor quality.
