I wish I knew if Corky got hers ok. I tried mailing her but no response :(

I'm here tonight because I'm super swamped! I'm so sorry that I haven't gotten back to you sooner! Yes! We loved everything! I adore the fabrics! The little chocolate mallow egg was heaven & my daughter wears the necklace you made! Thank you from the bottom of my heart, thank you! :)

Eco Crafts Forum / Re: Crocheting Rugs With Denim

My Mum saved up all of our old clothes & dishclothes, then made this gigantic rug for our living room. We had wooden floors & in the winter it was freezing cold. She managed to finish it in a matter of months, but even to this day she says that she went a little stir crazy cutting everything into strips, then crocheting it together.

I just wanted to say that it works well with almost anything you want to use. She layered up the thinner items (tshirts & pjs) to make a thicker strip. :)

I'm planning on sending mine prior to Easter. Things always get really busy with family the week of, so I want to be sure that it's received in time. :D

Easter Crafts / Re: Easter gifts

We used to pretty much make all of our gifts. On Easter I love getting hard boiled eggs. You could give some hardboiled eggs painted with dyes (you can do it free yourself if you find a tutorial online or get one of those £1 kits from a shop) with a nicely written out set of recipes of uses for hard boiled eggs.

We also used to make little nests. Basically you make some chocolate oatmeal cookies (the kind that you cook in a skillet or pan on the hob & drop by spoonfuls onto parchment to set) and adding coconut to the mixture, then with those little mini choc. eggs or jelly beans, making a little bird's nest out of them.

I have more ideas, just wanted to jot these down before I logged off & went to bed. <3

Introduce Yourself / Re: Just a quick hullo

Hi everyone  :) I do have troubles sometimes with how much space is really there in the U.S. at times. I was used to travelling hours to get anywhere. Now it seems much faster to pass through so many villages, towns & cities while travelling in the UK. I'll definitely miss living here, yet look forward to our new adventures in the US.

I just found a couple of emails that were typed up & put in the drafts folder, rather than sent. :S I just got it out now. :)

Yes, they took it from the laundrette. We dropped it off @ the laundrette so that we could finish working around the house. It was there long enough to be dried & then my husband went to pick it up. He came upstairs & had this sheepish look with an empty bag. I thought it was something to do with someone taking the dryer-as in they took our stuff out-and put theirs in. That has happened before too.

Ok, It's been a few days again. Penny, I just pm'ed you. :)

This one was stolen on Saturday, along with the rest of my daughter's clothes we had in 2 loads of laundry. :( I posted a brief blog, but suffice to say that the police have been contacted & I'm making a version 2 of this dress for my daughter. I'm so upset about it. There was another £40 or so of clothing I'd just purchased (tights, jeans, etc.) that I just repurchased tonight along with some other things.

I have to say, that I'm even more impressed with these now that she's worn them. I layered them with a pair of tights & bloomers, and a long sleeve shirt. My daughter loves them so much that she keeps asking me when I'm going to make her more dresses. lol

The pattern is a New Look pattern that my Mom brought over last year while visiting from the U.S. I don't know if anyone sells the New Look patterns here in the UK, but I'm sure you could find them online. They normally sell for around $4-5 retail brand new, so don't get duped into buying one for more than that. ;)

Oh cool, thank you for all the suggestions! :D I have some acrylics as it is, so I may try to just add the medium & test out on a few fabrics first. I'm hoping to work with some cotton wovens, some canvas & knits.

Yep! I still have them. It's £5 to ship anywhere mainland UK. I'm quite busy this week again though, so if you want to collect them, I'm near Preston & it'll have to be in the late evening. Sorry that I've left you all hanging here, but a friend from London was here most of the week & we were travelling all over. :)

Just let me know ohsewbrixton if you want them, or would like to pass on this so pennydog or ButterflySparkle can have them. ;)

Oh wow! That's awesome! :D I'm fixing my blog today. I haven't posted in a while since I had a friend visiting from London all week.

Introduce Yourself / Just a quick hullo

I'm Courtney, or as others know me, Corky. I'm American & am originally from northern Michigan. I went into shell shock when I first moved to England because of how, well, close together everything is. I'm used to it now & appreciate it a bit more, but I do sometimes dream of the countryside and open fields as far as the eye can see.

I'm 31, I have a 2 1/2 year old daughter & have been married for over 8 years now. We also have an awesome dog, Ludo, who is about 4 1/2 years old. (As far as we can tell he was born around Halloween 2004.) We're in the middle of a move back to the U.S. after I've been here for 10 years now. We're waiting on immigration paperwork & it's taking the government a lot longer to get back to us than we had anticipated. We've been waiting since August of last year & were originally planning on moving in December. I should have listened to all the ex-pats & friends who have told me it will take a year! Yes, our dog is coming with us too. :)

I sew, crochet, cook, bake, knit, stamp, paint...just about all of it minus woodworking. I'll be delving into that later this year when we've moved. My Stepdad has an awesome woodworking shop in his garage that we intend on working in & hopefully selling items at craft fairs & on Etsy/etc.

I love a good book & have been learning to take a bit of time for myself lately. Joanne Harris is one of my favourite authors. I just started reading Lollipop Shoes. I'm also a big lover of food. I think I own more recipe books than I do novels...so that's me off the top of my head. Any questions about Americans, don't be afraid to ask. I get asked a lot of questions about America. lol
