Funny you should mention this as I decided today that I should get some of my drawings printed on teatowels.

I've heard 100% cotton or linen is best, spoonflower recommends their linen-cotton canvas for their printing for teatowels but it feels a bit too thin for me. I actually prefer towelling for its absorbency.

You can get plain ones to decorate here: http://thecleverbaggers.co.uk/store/pc/Tea-Towels-c5.htm

I think the thing about linen is that there is less lint. That's why the best restaurants use linen cloths to polish up their glassware..

I read the guide on your blog and think I'll try and find some 100% linen. Am hoping to make co-ordinating tea-towels, apron, and perhaps a few other bits for the new house.  ;D

I've not sewn my own from scratch but the Boy and I have decorated ones from ikea using fabric pens and paint. I have also used fabric ink to stamp buttons on a tea towel for a swap. (the button stamp came from Vv).

The last tea towel I used a freezer paper stencil to make a Firefly/Serenity Blue Sun Towel.

I have one of Meri's teatowels too, it's actually the one I got out to use this morning, it has put up with a lot of washing cycles and still going strong :D

Now my hubby would love that, he is a total Firefly/Serenity nut :o) We don't have an ikea near us, but I'm wondering whether buying plain ones and taking it from there would be best as I can feel the thickness etc. Maybe when we've moved I can pop to Ikea :o)

We're getting a new Ikea in Leicester sopmetime this year so I won't have to trek to Nottingham every time.... however next week I plan to go and browse the fabric section once I get paid and get some meatballs, so I can pick you up a bunch if you like? They're only something like 35p each...
