very nice  ;D really like the top colours. I'd really like to do a course like this, i've enjoyed the skirts and dresses I've made but they are simple rather than following patterns.

cool kerry! how much did your course cost? I'd really love to do a dressmaking course and learn how to make clothes properly but have been nervous about doing one!

£60 for 8 weeks, though I thought we'd sit through as a class and work the same project together when really it was a "bring your own pattern and materials and I'll keep popping by to show you the best way of doing things" kind of class. It was just at the local community college, I saw it in the adult education booklets that come through the door.

Lovely Kerry!

I think I would have preferred one which you work on a project together rather than bring your own pattern sort of thing.

I can work from a pattern, what I want is skills in tailoring for instance.

Clothkits are not far from me, and they do courses.  Other than that I have seen expensive local ones where you even have to take your own sewing machine.  Which frankly I am not lugging about on a bus.

When I signed up I thought we would be working together but we did have a session or two on different seams such as french and the one like you get on the side of jeans (that I've forgotten) plus tailors tacks and different ways of pressing because these were all essential when we got onto sewing. We also got handouts on different needles and stuff on interfacing, etc to read in our own time. I don't think it was bad for the price, especially when I was considering an intensive weekend one which was going to be £300 inc VAT at a local dressmakers
