What Type

What type of arts do you create? I in my opinion am not a very good painter. I tend to do abstracts because in the end no one can tell if its good or not. I mean how can you really evaluate a bunch of paint streaks on canvas other than to give it a very personal interpretation?  ;D

When I do paint it does tend to be abtract too...that's more out of taste though. I much prefer simple paintings rather than ornate ones... I'd take a Mondrian over a Constable any day!

I'm a stickler for detail when it comes to my own drawing. But I love a Francis Bacon myself.

I was trained that for both painting and drawing, there should never, ever be white space. Even a white wall should be somehow represented, through shadow or so on.

So I guess that pretty much was a classical training, and its what I continued beyond school.

I don't really paint very often now but I like painting animals. :)  I could never get the hang of watercolours but I like acrylics. :)

Acrylics are kind of the best of both worlds. The boldness of oils and the same blendability-you can achieve some really amazing looks. Yet there are none of the penalties-not the three week drying time.

I managed a rather nice look once with oils-a thatched cottage. My cat trashed it (and a lot more as he walked off) whilst it was drying.

I adore acrylics!  The only thing is they dry too fast for me.  I finally got a mix in that slowed down the process and it worked a lot better.  I like oils too though.  I also have tried oil crayons but don't do well with those.

From what people tell me I tend to find things that go together when nothing else would or no one else would think to do it. I have seen some crazier things online than what I have done so its not that much a matter (anyone for a tie skirt?). I like to paint and mixmatch things, I guess thats my nitch.

Quite frankly, I feel that abstract painting and non representation painting takes great thought and skill.  A lot of people just think that it is simple slapping paint around a canvas (Jackson Pollack, anyone?), but it is far, far from that, IMO.

My daughter is getting interested in digital artwork. I bought her one of those drawing tablets and she is busy at work learning how to produce tomorrow's masterpieces with it.

You couldn't have one on your wall though...it'd put you off your dinner!

I sketch, but useless at cartoon style, it has to be relative realism for me, and it has to be in front of me, my imagination isn't too good with a pen. Here's a couple of mine, hand sketched, then digitally coloured:

Pennydog - your sketches are lovely.

I'm an acrylics girl, lifes to short to wait for oils to dry. I paint abstract work but also childrens designs, which are decorative and take alot of patience to paint.

Thanks, though I'm extremely amateur in that I draw when I'm on the phone at work and that is all (which is where they came from)!
