i just mean that Dawn Bibby and Stephanie? on ideal world have a following i wouldn't want to offend anyone if they like their style!
i think it is overpriced but if you watch home shopping you can start to believe it when they tell you what a "bargain" you're getting . . . . .
i charge a lot for a custom card but i put a lot of effort into them, the last custom card i did was personalised with a name - i made my own stamp for it and decorated two inserts for it and decorated the envelope too BUT i bet it was still cheaper than a so-called hand-made card from clinton cards - Now that makes me cross how they can call it hand-made just because someone peeled a sticky pad and added another printed layer!
rant over . . . .hope no-one is offended at me not liking the style of Bibby!
Definitely not offended, I'm not a fan of Dawn Bibby's work, or QVC etc.
The prices on TV shopping channels are inflated, without a doubt. I have never bought from one (for crafts or anything), and probably never will.
Also, in many shops and from many brands, items go up in price when they are marketed for cardmaking/scrapbooking.
I tend to buy a lot of my papers and branded embellishments etc when they are on sale - I have a massive stack of Basic Grey papers, bought at half price or less. My rubber stamp collection is where most of my craft spending money has gone, but those tend to hold their value reasonably well, so now I tend to recycle that money by selling old stamps to buy new.
At the moment, I'm really mostly playing around and being creative, rather than creating cards to really make a profit from - I will return to that in due course no doubt.
Hobbycraft - I only tend to go there when we pass it, and then I tend to pick up things like thread, rather than cardmaking supplies, as all the cardmaking stuff they stock is either too expensive, or crap (or both!). I shop for craft supplies online for the most part, although I do like to visit the nearest decent craft shop from time to time.
